On this so momentous occasion of your 59th birth anniversary
I, your humble and a responsible citizen
With utmost devotion and solemnity
Hereby wish you a very" Happy Birthday"
Fifty-nine is not a number of years you have grown old,
It is the years of peace and harmony
That  your nation and denizens lived under your impeccable regime.

your existence was indeed a blessing in disguise for us.
Breaking through all sorts of barriers and confrontations
You have brought our nation far to this stage
Where your people are known by your prestigious name
And your nation by your profound and holistic
philosophy of GNH.

By your visionary insight and anticipation,
You have opened the door to the outside world,
Not with the deliberation to give them our nation's sovereignty and independence
Rather to build unbreakable bonds  and bring in an amazing upswing
To his people and the nation. Thank you my king. you are our god.

To the land of this Thunder Dragon,
You are the epitome of all aspects of words and deeds
And we shall follow your trail till the end.
Your words of wisdom shall always remain imprinted indelibly in our minds
Your marvelous deeds shall be invariably venerated.
May you bestow us with wisdom and potency
To grow and walk to the world of perfection.
May you live for eternity and guide us your way
And make us all as good and productive as yourself.
Long live our king!!!...We all cross our fingers for your longevity and well-being.

letter to my parents..

My dear parents....

luv u mummy
This is the very first time I am writing to you two. And I am terribly sorry for not being able to keep in constant touch with you though I missed you every moment of my life. Please pardon me for that. I know how much you two have yearned to know how I am doing here afar by miles and miles. You two must have been worrying all the time when there is no any message from me,your son for a long time.To your great relief and easiness, I tell you that I am so well and everything is going well with me by your prayers and by the god's grace. No worries my affectionate parents!.

Whenever I go around and see some people working tirelessly in the scorching sun drenched with perspiration, my mind gets preoccupied by the imagination of two of you going through the same weariness and exhaustion like them. Though it aches my heart and damps my mind, all I can do is stay in lost. Sometimes I hate myself for being burdensome and troublesome for you two. So sorry my adorable parents for my being the reason for your fast ageing and frailness.

I know how much you two have struggled in bringing us upto this stage and I shall be always indebted to two of you though I may not be able to repay the things you have done for me- your boundless love and care, your sacrifices, your right guidance and for all the things I can't even make a list of. I owe you so much my parents!..Every single word of your inspiring advice is always in my mind highly venerated and earnestly adopted in every journey of my life. I never deceive others, I never take away other's properties, I never indulge in atrocious actions and I always try to be a good human being as I have been advised by you two, my parents. Thank you for directing me to the right direction and making me a good human being.

I neither feel upset nor do I regret for having born under such  parents like you two who are illiterate and  not -so -affluent like others because all I want is love and care and good guidance, and I have got enough of all these from you two and still I am getting all your love and care though I myself is old enough to stand on my own feet. I won't pledge to fulfill any of your aspirations or desires because I know promises can be broken untouched and it will cause an incurable wound inside. But I can swear one thing for you two. I swear that I will strive towards accomplishing your aspirations and expectations that you have from me.Hereby I enclose my chit with the words, always be good and ecstatic and stay out of stress. May god almighty shields my lovely parents from all sorts of setbacks and keep them always blissful till I can replace you.

Your son,
Ugyen.

An eternal happiness..

Whenever we feel happy it is our happiness.  Generally speaking, everybody feels happy when we get mental satisfaction at what we have done and when we have met our goals and desires. Moreover, we feel happy when our lives go well in a way we expected. But from my own point of view, I think that happiness differs from person to person. I also personally conceive that there must be some reasons for us to be happy. without any reason then I think happiness is out of question.

So happiness comes with reasons. What could  a happiness mean for lovers? Obviously, happiness for them would be spending their time together-talking, kissing, dining, cuddling and never wanting to go off one another. And for our parents, happiness could be when we the children do good deeds and excel in studies and get a good job. I am pretty sure that all our parents' happiness and sorrow entirely depend on us, the children. So we are the reasons for our parents' happiness as well as grief.
likewise, for girls, shopping and receiving calls and gifts from their boy friends could be their happiness and for boys, staring at the stunning and exquisite laddies and of-course going out for date with their girl friends could be their happiness apart from other reasons.

But the happiness we obtain from all these things is a short term happiness. It won't last long. It will be gone just a moment later. The great world's spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama says that the happiness we get from others or from external environments is just a sensorial happiness and that we must go for eternal happiness. Here, you may think that only the Buddha can achieve this. But no.. we all have the potentials and ways to achieve eternal happiness. We needn't be a Buddha, saint, monk or nun..It is impossible for every one to be any of them. We can be what we are and achieve this lifetime blissfulness through the practice of noble deeds. Be kind to all the sentient beings, never harm others, help the needy, be affectionate and compassionate, avoid deceptions and fibs, be friendly to all and avoid discrimination, don't be arrogant and egocentric...if we can follow all these practices in our lives then we are bound to accomplish eternal happiness and mental satisfaction.
For instance, suppose you have deceived a person and took away all his money. You will get both enjoyment and happiness till that money gets exhausted. And after that you won't get mind peace and you have to be always in worries and tensions. Even if you can escape from that but you will be always in guiltiness till you expire. On the contrary, lets say you are a kind and helping person. You will be loved by all and there will be many friends to you. So you will be happy forever and when you die you will die in peace and with satisfactions.  So the choice is mine, yours and ours whether to opt for a short term happiness or eternal happiness.
Have a nice time reading and pardon me for the mistakes If I have made. I will be glad and grateful if you all could find my mistakes and correct me...

                                           Thank you......

life is not as easy as we think....

Nobody's life is easy and it will never be. Even the Buddha's life was tough and tiring. Nothing happens by miracle. The wish- fulfilling tree(pag-sam jen-shing) is no longer in the world. It has become a legend now. We can't just bum around anticipating for something miracle to happen in our lives. We always trust in god and believe that god will do everything for us. But we never realize that god helps those who help themselves. If we long to have what others have and if we want to accomplish what others have accomplished, then we have to do on our on. We have to start climbing up the ladder of success. We have to be determined, optimistic, diligent and enthusiastic as to achieve our dreams and desires.  Food will never come to us when we are famished. We have to go for it. Likewise, success will never be ours if we just keep watching others doing great things and succeeding satisfyingly and keep praying for god to play miracle on us.

Thinking of being a parasite will be the worst thing and disgraceful firstly on ourselves, secondly on our families and relatives and then on the community and the nation. Although we have to rely on our families and friends in times of need for quite sometimes, we can't be dependent on them till the end. We have to make our own livings and it entirely depends on ourselves how we are going to live our lives. No one can remold the way of our lives except by ourselves. So never take life easy. Try to make something out of our lives. Do whatever is good and our lives will be good naturally. Poverty waits at the gates of idleness. So never be a lazy bum. Always try to do something meaningful.

There are some people who take their lives so easy. They stay bother-less and carefree. They tend to forget the preciousness of life. But it is certain that they will realize their own mistakes. That time it will be too late to go  back to those gone away days to start meaningful life and it is impossible either. All they can do is stay in compunction and the words like 'I should have done', If I would have done' will keep their minds preoccupied and even make them shed tears. So, do what we can do and prepare for the better life while we are both mentally and physically sound instead of staying idle and dull. Don't just go on dreaming so many things without doing anything. Building castle in the air is of no use. It is merely a wastage of time.

Don't just wait things to happen. Instead, make things happen for us. Nobody is incapable of doing things. All are equally capable of doing anything. But the thing is everyone doesn't work equally. That's why we are not equally successful. Nonetheless, keep doing things and success and luck will automatically come our way. God is always there to exalt our doings and reward accordingly.
Slumber when it is time to sleep, eat when it is time to eat and play when it is time to play. Whatever we do, we should do according to the timing. If we are punctual, everything will go smoothly.
So always work hard and never take life easy. Life is neither a bed of roses nor a  child's play. nothing will happen magically.

Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” – Les Brown

Diwali celebration in India

I got distracted from doing my tasks by the sounds of people hooting, by the blasting of musics to the peak volume, by the bursting sound of firecrackers etc..My mind was entirely disturbed and my mood of doing chores got unpleasantly restless by the noisy ambiance and could not do anything. Knowing that it would be just a sort of self-punishment by doing things in such a restless mood, I resolved to going out for a short stroll with my friends. As if anticipated, my two chums both named karma were kind enough to consent to my suggestion. In other words they two are acquiescent and gullible friends I have.

Without much preparation on ourselves, we hurried out of the room just taking some amount of buck with us. As soon as we came out of the room, we felt slightly different from the other days and also we could see the atmosphere was not the same as before. Every household, every shop, and every street was brightly illuminated by the varying colors of lights and amazingly decorated. Besides we could also hear a loud sounds of something bursting from every direction. That very bomb-blast-like sound led me to the world of imagination where I imagined myself at the war place. From that I realized that those people who are dwelling at war places must be undoubtedly suffering from noise pollution.

Though the Diwali festival was quite irritating and resenting for non-celebrators, it seemed that it was one of the most important festivals for the Indians. We could see them celebrating in their own ways with much value and enthusiasm. I could also see those shopkeepers at the peak of blissfulness from which I drew conclusion that it must be one of the profitable days for them as they receive a number of customers and we had to even stay in line as if we were going to receive blessings from the great saint. We could also see some smiles on their faces when we wished them simply a 'happy diwali..Likewise there seem to have so many festivals in India too like we have in our country Bhutan.

So, I thought I had been lucky enough to have received  an opportunity to study abroad as I come to learn many new things and get myself exposed to outside world. I came to understand the cultures and lifestyles of other people rather than our own country land. So, I feel that it is essential to move out of one's abode and explore the other world for better knowledge, for better experience and for better ideas etc.....With this, On behalf of all non-celebrators and on my on behalf, I sincerely wish our Indian families' A very Happy Diwali'.

                                        Thank you.

Fib for good....

I cannot claim that I am not a liar or I never lie. I cannot either say he/she is a liar. As far as I know everyone of us are all liars. Even the eminent persons also lie occasionally. But there are varieties of fibs and fibbers. Some lies are good, some are awful. Some are helpful while other lies are destructive and deceptive.  Some people fib to escape from the bitter situations and also to deceive others while some lie as to bring some positive changes in the minds and behavior of others. Likewise people lie in their own ways.

It is also said that it is a big sin to tell lies especially to our parents and teachers. So, thinking of it, makes me fearful and keeps me in the state of hesitation because I never tell my parents the truth. Not telling the truth is also a
lie. So, I am a good liar in deed. My parents used to ask me, " Are you in sound health?'," Are you studying hard?', " Is everything going fine with you down there?' so on and so forth. But I always used to say them that I am good and studying well and that everything is going as expected though in reality I barely study and face some problems. Just recently my mummy and one of my brothers were asking about my result and I told them it was good though I am failed in one subject. I didn't share with them of my failure deliberately. But it doesn't mean that I was scared of getting scolded by them or getting beaten up by them. I am pretty sure my parents would never do such thing to me.

Well, you may think that I am a bad son to my parents. But I can argue that I am not. Whatever lies I tell my parents I tell with the good intentions. I just don't want to perturb them unnecessarily. I don't want to let them down. I don't want them to have worries over me. I want them to be happy always. That's why I never tell the truth to my parents. Had I told them that I had failed in one subject then surely they would have undergone great depression and started worrying about me because I had been doing good in studies since my schooling. Moreover, I am their white-hope and if I can't reach up-to their expectation then it would give them an unbearable pain. So, I don't want my parents to suffer because of me. That is why I always keep on concealing the truth from my parents and relatives. So, I think that lying with good intention will be not much sinful but fibbing for bad purposes will be a great sinful.

sometimes try to learn more than what we know....

I wanted to ask the cost of things which I wanted to purchase. I wanted to ask if there are stuffs available of my like. I wanted to know what they were talking about. But I was left like an oaf among the strangers. I could not express what I had to express out.It even drag me back to infancy when I had to pinpoint at the things like small kids do at whatever things their eyes come across. I even felt insulted and embarrassed as well when I saw some people mocking at us. But later I realized that it was a lesson for me-the lesson that I should learn and should have learned other languages other than our own language.

Well, one day, I accompanied by my friend karma, went out to do some shopping at nearby street shops here in India. We had shopped around for almost an hour and finally my sight was attracted by one of the beautiful shirts. It was  hung quite a high beyond my reach. So we dashed towards that shop to buy that shirt. If it was within my reach I could have taken it from its place but since it was beyond my reach I had to ask the shopkeeper to take it out. But I didn't know the name of colors in their language and like a small kid I simply pinpointed at the shirt. Since the shirt which I liked was at the second row, the shopkeeper didn't see and to explain him further, I didn't know Hindi. So I was left with no other alternatives than to leave my lovely shirt and headed miserably to other shops. As we move out of that shop I  heard few of the sale-boys murmuring something but I didn't understand what they were uttering. It just kept me in the thought of what they could have talked about us- good or bad. I just said 'let it be to myself' to relieve myself.

So, all I can say from my own experience is that it is extremely vital to learn other languages apart from our own languages. Life seems incomplete and tough without having good knowledge of other languages. It is really difficult to cope up with the people from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We can be easily fooled, easily deceived  if we don't know their languages and just vice versa. We would also feel dominated. Like, sticking to one specific diet deteriorates our health, sticking to one's own language makes our life dull and meaningless. It jeopardizes the beauty of our life.

I often feel that knowing different languages is the most indispensable thing and treasure of our life. Without good knowledge of other languages, we are just like deaf and dumb. We would be always in troubles. We can't accomplish our desires and wishes. So I urge you to learn few other languages. Those who have been so dedicated to one's own language and didn't bother to learn other languages like me, please commence learning few other languages with zeal and zest. It will make a big difference in your life. We may have to deal with the people from different sections of the world at any time. So we have to be in a position to deal with them and the only way we can do is by learning few other languages.  We are never too old to learn.....

                                  Thank you....
